About

The primary purpose of the Cofimvaba Schools District Project is to examine whether and how the introduction of new and existing technologies can contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning in rural environments. Currently being piloted in the Nciba Schools Circuit, this project will serve as a ‘testing ground’ on how technology intensive interventions can enhance the teaching and learning of math, science and technology.

The quality of teaching and learning is influenced by a range of environmental factors, which is why the is project provides for a range of technology interventions in areas such as ICTs, water and sanitation, health, nutrition and energy. To this end, a number of multi-stakeholder project Working Groups are examining opportunities and making recommendations on various themed interventions.

To date, two focused pilot initiatives (in ICT and agricultural teaching development) at the Arthur Mfebe Senior Secondary (SS) School has been launched. This has provided early learning opportunities that serve as the catalyst and blueprint intervention for possible replication and scale up throughout the Nciba Circuit. Furthermore, an experimental farm has been established at Arthur Mfebe Secondary School aimed at enhancing the teaching of agricultural management practice.
