The ICT for eLearning Working Group is driven by CSIR Meraka Institute. To date the ICT Working Group has successfully implemented its Phase 1 Pilot at the Arthur Mfebe Senior Secondary (SS) School.
Milestone achievements:
- 16 Tablets distributed to teachers, school and district management in partnership with Lucky Mobile
- 10-Course Training Programme designed to support teachers in the use of technology to facilitate learning in the classroom
- 4 Teacher Training Courses successfully completed (the remaining 6 courses will resume with the start of the academic year in 2013)
- Local Wifi Mesh network installed
- Content server (i.e. MobiHub) installed
- Charging & Safe storage stations (i.e. MobiCharge) installed
- Implementation of a maths and science teaching systems and learner resource material development through the NMMU Govan Mbeki Mathematics Unit
- Dr Math programme aimed at supporting learners through mobile technologies, implemented together with MST Skills and TIA
- QuizMax exercises via Mxit
